چکیده
Discontinuous Galerkin methods, originally developed in the advective case, have been successively extended to advection–diffusion problems, and are now used in very diverse applications. We here consider the numerical solution of the compressible Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes and k–x turbulence model equations by means of DG space discretization and implicit time integration. Detailed description of the DG discretization of the viscous part of the equations and of several implementation details of the k–x turbulence model are given. To assess the performance of the proposed methodology we present the results obtained in the computation of the turbulent flow over a flat plate and of the turbulent unsteady wake developing behind a turbine blade. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. RANS Solutions Using High Order Discontinuous Galerkin Methods
We present a practical approach for the numerical solution of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations using high-order discontinuous Galerkin methods. Turbulence is modeled by the Spalart-Allmaras (SA) one-equation model. We introduce an artificial viscosity model for SA equation which is aimed at accommodating high-order RANS approximations on grids which would otherwise be too co...
متن کاملHigh-Order Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for Turbulent High-lift Flows
In this work a robust discontinuous Galerkin (DG) solver for turbulent high-lift aerodynamic flows using the turbulence model of Spalart and Allmaras (SA) is developed. The application of DG discretizations to turbulent RANS flows is one of the most pressing issues facing high-order methods on unstructured grids. The issue is the result of non-smooth behavior of the turbulence model equation, w...
متن کاملAn Unsteady Adaptation Algorithm for Discontinuous Galerkin Discretizations of the RANS Equations
An adaptive method for high-order discretizations of the Reynolds-averaged NavierStokes (RANS) equations is examined. The RANS equations and Spalart-Allmaras (SA) turbulence model are discretized with a dual consistent, discontinuous Galerkin discretization. To avoid oscillations in the solution in under-resolved regions, particularly the edge of the boundary layer, artificial dissipation is ad...
متن کاملSolution of two-dimensional time-fractional Burgers equation with high and low Reynolds numbers
Burgers’ equation frequently appears in the study of turbulence theory, as well as some other scientific fields. High and low Reynolds numbers play important roles in both modeling and numerical simulation. In this paper, we apply a numerical scheme to solve a two-dimensional time-fractional Burgers equation. The key feature of the proposed method is formed by combining the discontinuous Galerk...

Abstract. In this paper we are concerned with numerical methods for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems and with their verification and validation. The fluid-structure interaction modelling is very complicated problem, where the most complicated and cruicial part is modelling of the fluid flow. Therefore the main interest of this paper is the numerical approximation of two dimensional in...
